Music Arts Groups While many are aware that the Salvation Army tradition of brass banding, fewer people may know about other musical and theatrical activities we participate in. These activities include but are not limited to Singing, Sacred Dance, Acting, Stage and Technical Engineering as well as individual music lesson in brass, piano and guitar.
In Worship: The Music groups of the Salvation Army Hempstead Citadel Corps are a key part of worship and service, both inside and outside the walls of the building. Participation in weekly church services is not merely for entertainment value. The band and songsters help set an atmosphere of reverence toward God.
Several times each year, our Music Arts groups provide a service that is centered on Worship Through Music. These musicals are most often held on Sunday evenings, and feature both the children and adults. As with all of our church services, we encourage people from our community to attend.
In Service: The Corps (Local Church) Band helps with many of the Community activities in Nassau County. Several times each year they are called upon to perform at annual recognition dinners as well as travel throughout the Greater New York area to participate in Band Conferences and Music Education Events. It is not uncommon to see a quartet at a Red Kettle Stand during the Christmas Season. While in each instance the music provides quality, wholesome entertainment, the primary reason for the performance is to bring attention to and a greater understanding of God.
