Most people who are asked “What is the Salvation Army?” immediately think of the local “Thrift Store”, or the annual “Christmas Kettle” appeal. Others identify more readily with the “Emergency Disaster Relief” or “Donut Girl” during local and national crisis. While these are an important characteristics of the “national” perception of the Salvation Army, they are but a shadow of the personality of the Local “Corps Community Center ”.

The Salvation Army Hempstead Citadel Corps is a multi-faceted Worship and Community Center.  The heart of our purpose it to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human need.  These two principles were at the beginning of The Salvation Army and continue today.  This is done in many ways, but begins at our worship services on Sunday.  This is where the community of faith comes together to worship Almighty God, celebrate the Lordship of Christ, be refreshed by the presence of the Holy Spirit, and support each other in our daily living.  All other ministries emanate from here.

As you explore this web page you will find services and programs for all ages.  Please feel free to contact us with if you have any questions.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Salvation Army, founded in 1865, is an international religious and charitable movement organized and operated on a quasi-military pattern and is a branch of the Christian church.  Its membership includes officers (clergy), soldiers/adherents (laity), members of varied activity groups and volunteers who serve as advisors, associates and committed participants in its service functions.

The motivation of the organization is love of God and practical concern for the needs of humanity.  This is expressed by a spiritual ministry, the purpose of which are to preach the Gospel, disseminate Christian truths, supply basic human necessities, provide personal counseling and undertake the spiritual and moral regeneration and physical rehabilitation of all persons who come within its sphere of influences regardless of race, color, creed, sex or age.
